BEST TIME TO VISIT
The best time to visit Frankfurt would be from May to late October. The
majority of tourists visit here during March-May and September-October.
Summers are generally avoided because of the heat and rain. The winter
season is also not preferred because of the biting cold. But Christmas
time is an exception. Despite the cold the people do not mind coming to
here and feel the festive air. If you wish to avoid the crowd then it
would be advisable to stay out during the times of the trade fairs.
TIPS FOR TRAVELLERS
The first and foremost thing to keep in mind is
passport. Check before leaving your hometown that whether or not the
passport is a valid one. The expiry date should be at least three
months later after you leave Frankfurt for your motherland again. The
drinking water is safe and you can drink water from tap as well. Your
safety too will not be at a risk. However, it is best to avoid darker
alleys and it is advisable to travel in a group. Medical expense at
Frankfurt is costly. So it is better to have a medical insurance.
SAFETY
TIPS
City has one of Germany's
highest crime rates. This is due to some statistical reasons as e.g.
smuggling and similar offences at the airport as well as anything
concerning credit card fraud anywhere in Germany, since the main credit
card clearing company is based here.
Physical crime is in general concentrated in the red light district
around the central train station, which also is the hangout of the many
drug dealers/junkies. Nevertheless city is still very safe compared to
large cities in many other countries and it's highly unlikely that
you'll face armed robbery or other violent crimes. Use your common
sense and avoid obviously drunken/aggressive people at night.
