The
Chelsea Lodge
This a real find. Great price, good location, friendly staff and the
rooms are perfect. This accommodation is ideal for big groups (4 per
room, as long as you don’t mind sharing a bed). The bottom
room is better for girls with a spacious shower room and lots of
mirrors. Room from $119 onwards
Columbus
Studio Hostel
You have to carry your luggage up the stairs to your room, and the
stairs aren't exactly levelled. But the rooms are clean and comfortable
and the staff extremely helpful. The bathrooms are maintained at least
twice a day (mopped and bleached). There are two restrooms with
bath/shower on each floor; you won’t usually run into issues
where one isn't available. Dorm rooms from $16
Chelsea
International Studio has a professional security staff and
all our common areas are under constant video monitoring. The property
is maintained around the clock by a highly motivated maintenance and
maid staff. The front desk staff is comprised of people familiar with
city and the surrounding Boroughs. Dormitory style rooms from $36
onwards
Central
Park Studio - Guests can choose from dorms or suites.

selected as the setting for a Woody Allen movie. Individually decorated
guestrooms include a TV, phone, and pedestal sink. Bathrooms are
shared. Room from $80
Alexander

front desk and concierge service; complimentary coffee is served each
morning. Spacious guestrooms, renovated in December 2006, feature
shared and private bathrooms, and high-speed Internet access. From
US$89 onwards
Belleclaire
- Rooms are nothing fancy at the Belleclaire,
but have varying layouts. Tiled bathrooms are the bare minimum (soaps
are plopped on a window ledge in a few). TVs are mounted on the wall
facing a bed with simple white comforters. There's a small fitness
center to enjoy on the 1st floor (but Central Park is just three blocks
east!), and a lobby gift shop with internet access and a tour stand.
From US$86 onward for two
Murray
Hill Inn - Murray wins many hearts in small things - like
a recent renovation that put new wood floors in all rooms, as well as
new beds, dressers and bathrooms. Compared to other budget stay at
this price level, the Murray is a notch more comfortable than most.
From US$99 onward for two.
Casablanca

clean, well-outfitted rooms at value rates, as well as nice extras such
as complimentary breakfast, bottled water, free high-speed Internet,

top-notch quality and extras. Rooms are rustic and uniquely designed,

Splurge
Plaza
Athenee The quintessential Upper East Side
residential nest, this collection of 149 rooms and suites is decorated
with Asian and European silks, framed prints, and striped drapes. The
two penthouses have indoor atriums and terraces and a past guest list
that includes Elizabeth Taylor and Princess Diana, both drawn to the
Plaza athenee privacy. In contrast to the rooms' perfectly pedigreed
style,
is a combination of Moroccan and African decor, with animal-print
couches, leather floors, velvet drapes, and onyx sconces
Four
Seasons Rising over Manhattan's premier shopping
and
business district, between Park and Madison Avenues, the I.M.
Pei-designed Four Seasons features stunning views and gracious style
– a remarkable luxury experience, even by this city standards.
The
Carlyle - This 34-story grande dame towers over Madison
Avenue majestically, perfectly epitomizing the old-world, moneyed
neighborhood where it stands. Service is white-glove (literally) and
doormen actually wear bowler hats; many celebrities and dignitaries,
some with faces obscured by silk scarves, sip tea in the it's cozy
Gallery. The English manor-style decor is luxurious but not excessive,
creating the comfortably elegant ambience of an Upper East Side
apartment. Many apartments have breathtaking views of either downtown
or the West Side and Central Park.
Ritz-Calrlton
A luxurious star retreat with stellar views of Central Park, the former
St.
Moritz is easily one of the top properties in the city. No
request is too difficult for the superlative Ritz staff, one reason it
is a favorite of celebrities and royalty. Quietly elegant rooms
and suites are sumptuous without feeling stiff or stuffy, with
high-thread-count sheets and rich, plush fabrics throughout.
The
Peninsula This elegant, cosmopolitan stay offers 185
guestrooms and 54 suites, each of them dressed to the nines and
featuring an array of amenities, including flat-screen plasma
televisions. For on-site dining, there's Fives, a
Mediterranean-inspired restaurant that's sure to inspire romance.
